Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Romans 6:1-4 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Baptism is the ultimate profession of faith. Through it, we die to our old, worldly flesh and are born anew for a new life with God. Jesus, although being the son of God and without fault, was baptized as an example for every sincere Christian who was to follow. However, baptism is an expression of an already-existing faith. Being immersed in water will not give us the faith that we need to read God's word, pray, or resist temptation. As it has been said by many different people, baptism will simply turn a dry sinner into a wet one if they are not ready. To be truly saved through baptism, we need the faith to trust in God and accept Jesus as our saviour first.
