Did Jesus have a choice?
.
Matthew 4:3  And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Matthew 4:6  And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Matthew 26:39  And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Matthew 26:53  Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

Satan knows Jesus very well.  He knew that each of his temptations were within Jesus' power to accept.  He could have turned the stones into bread, and legions of angels were at His command.  Satan knew that Jesus, like us, had the power of choice.  He could have given in at any time.  Had Jesus sinned, our fate would have been sealed, and all of humanity would be condemned to death with no hope of salvation.  But the glorious truth about Jesus' life is that He, through the power of the Holy Spirit, resisted every temptation thrown at Him.  He chose to follow the will of God the Father, and that is how He prevailed over sin.
