God's power for us John 5:19-20 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. John 14:12-14 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Even though He was fully God, Jesus gained the victory only by trusting in the Father. Jesus would often pray to the Father like we ourselves do. Many of the miracles that Jesus did in the Gospels were also done by the Apostles in the Book of Acts, including raising the dead. Furthermore, Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that was with Jesus throughout His ministry. If we put self aside and trust in God, we too can gain the victory over sin and this world through the power of God.
